Nice Example of a mid century screen printed cribbage board. Estimated to be Circa 1960-70’s.
It is not uncommon to find modern U.S. cribbage boards that were manufactured in the latter half of the 20th Century to have outdoor, or nature scenes incorporated into the design. It’s a natural progression as these cribbage boards were often taken to the family cottage, or on road trips to help pass the time.
These days board games of all types have been replaced with technology devices such as cell phones, tablets, and personal lap tops, but you can still find many examples like this hiding in a lake cottage closet, or toy chest.
This loon cribbage board was decorated with a simple graphic which seems to have been screen printed. This type of board could have just as easily been manufactured using water slide decal which was common process at the time.
Although it looks very similar to the Crisloid boards that were manufactured during the years mentioned, there is no indication of who the manufacturer actually was. If any of the readers here have come across this board before, or know who may have manufactured it. Please leave your thoughts in the comments section.
Ideally someone may have one of these in the original box, assuming there was a box, which is always a great help in determining the history of a cribbage board.
